Yona Rozenkier

YONA ROZENKIER – SCREENWRITER AND DIRECTOR
39 years old, is an Israeli-French-Swiss director, born and raised in kibbutz Yehiam. Worked as a farmer until 27, before deciding to start film school. Currently living in Tel Aviv. Graduated from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television in Tel-Aviv.
His first feature film The Dive (2018) won 4 awards in Jerusalem International Film Festival (including best feature award), won 2 awards in Locarno, and screened in other festivals, among them: Toronto, AFI Fest, Seattle, Cleveland, Jeonju, Warsaw, Milano and others.

Decompression feature script, won first prize in the Jerusalem International Sam Spiegel Film Lab 2016, took part in Cannes Atelier 2017, and won the pitch point award at JFF 2017. Currently in Pre-Production as an Israeli-France-Swiss co-production.
VIlde Haye (Wild beasts in Yiddish) Feature script, received development grant from the Isareli Film Fund 2019, took part of ScriptLab Torino Film Lab, EAVE and the in the Pop Up Film Residency 2020.

Co- writer of Kibbutznikim,(40 episodes) a daily Drama created for HOT (Israeli Cable)

In 2019 he had two shorts in Cannes. Writer and Director of Butterflies (short film, 8 min), Cannes’ official short film competition, TIFF ,Aspen, Fantasia and WE ARE ONE among others.
Co-writer and Director of The sign (short film, 12 min, 2019), Cannes’ “Director’s Fortnight” 2019 annual opening omnibus “The SEE Factory”
His previous short films have been screened in numerous festivals including Venice (critics week) Busan, Clermont Ferrand and more.
