Barbara Cunha post-graduated in Studies of Image & Contemporary Culture and studied direction with Béla Tárr. Advocates for gender equity in films and administer the group 'Mulheres do Audiovisual Brasil’. Her projects deal with female's issues and seek to understand women in contemporary society. Barbara is a Film Fatales's member and also part of the talent network of Paradiso Project (Olga Rabinovich Institute). In 2020, she is invited to IFA - Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen to be the part of the Cross Culture Programme to strengthen lasting networks between Germany and cultural representatives from countries around the world.
